Steps involved in pile cutting

The entire pile cutting procedure has been broken down into several steps, which are as follows:

  • At first, it needs to be ensured that all necessary equipment is present along with the safety gear. In addition, the inspection of the site should also be carried out before initiating the cutting process.
  • In the next stage, the pile needs to be inspected to analyse if any kind of damage or irregularity is there before beginning the cutting process. The cut-off level of the pile should be provided in the specification drawings.
  • The selection of the right tools for cutting the piles is also necessary. In this context, a Diamond-blade has been used to cut the pile because of its ability to cut through tough materials. During the cutting process, it needs to be ensured that there is consistent and firm pressure while cutting the pile.
  • After completing the cutting process, the pile should be inspected for an even cut and checked for damage that could impact the structural integrity of the pile.
  • Several piles require finishing work, for example, it requires sanding or applying the protective coatings on the pile.

Discuss the steps involved in the construction of the pile foundation

The construction of the pile foundation has been done in several steps, which are as follows:

Marking stage

At first, the builder has to align the bore machine over the centre mark and check the level with a spirit level.

Casing installation

In the next step, the casing should be inserted to support the bore wall.

Drilling the bore

A rotary drill has been used to drill the bore. In this step, the density step should be held before starting the drilling procedure.

Bottom clearance

After completing the drilling procedure, the borehole should be cleared to make the concrete more effective.

Interesting reinforcement cage of the pile

In the next step, the reinforcement cage has been inserted vertically in the borehole. In this context, proper spacing between the reinforcement and the borehole wall should be maintained.

Concreting process

At the bottom of the borehole, the concreting is done through the tremie pipe method. After pouring the concrete, it should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.

Chipping off the concrete

After completing the curing period of the concrete, the concrete pile is ready for the ground level, and all the concrete above this level should be chipped off.

Levelling the surface area

Once after chipping all the concrete has been chipped off up to the cut-off level, the surface area should be levelled, and plain cement concrete should be provided.

Pile-cap reinforcement

In the next step, the reinforcement for the pile-cap has been laid on the plain cement concrete.

Centering process

After completing the reinforcement procedure, the centre of the pile-cap has been found, and the reinforcement of the pier of the bridge has been done.

Pile-cap concreting

In the next step, concreting should be done at the pile-cap and allowed for its curing process. Thus, the pier is prepared for casting.
