How to Prepare Bar Bending Schedule for Slab
Procedure to prepare bar bending schedule for slab is described. Procedure to calculate cut length, overall weight of any slab and prepare format is described.
Assume a slab with length equal to 21 feet 6 inches and width equal to 17 feet 6 inches.
Steel for distribution bar is #4 with space 9” center to center (#4@9”c/c). Dia of main bar is #5 and space 6” center to center (#5@6”c/c).
Wall thickness is 9”.
1) Main bars cut length = length – 2 cover + 18 db
Main bars cut length = 17.5 – (2 x 0.75”/12) + (18 x 0.625”/12)
Main bars cut length = 17.5 – 0.125 + 0.937 = 18.31’
Number of bars = Length of distribution bar/spacing of main bar + 1
Read: Bar Bending Schedule for steel and building reinforcement
Number of bars = 21.5 – 0.125/0.5 + 1 = 21.375/0.5 + 1 = 44 number of bars
2) Distribution bar cut length = length – 2 cover + 18 db
Distribution bar cut length = 21.5 – 0.125 + 0.937 = 22.31’
Number of bars = Length of main bar/spacing of distribution bar + 1
Number of bars = 17.5 – 0.125/0.75 + 1 = 24 number of bars
