How to measure volume of staircase
There are two landings, landing 1 and landing 2.
Width of landing 1 is 1200 mm (1.2 m). Landing 1 is 2500 mm x 1 m.
Let’s measure for 1 flight (½ landing, 1 flight and ½ landing).
Dimension of tread is 250 mm and dimension of riser is 150 mm.
Thickness of waist slab is 125 mm. Thickness of landing is 200 mm.
Using the formula, Volume is equal to area x width
We’ll measure the surface area. After measuring the surface area, multiply it with width to obtain volume. Width is 1200 mm.
Surface area is equal to 962310.75 mm2
Surface area in m2 is equal to 962310.75/1000 x 1000 = 0.962 m2
Volume is equal to area x width or height = 0.962 m2 x 1.2 m = 1.15 m3
