How to calculate quantity of bricks for walls
In this civil engineering tutorial, we will explain the simplest method of calculating quantity of bricks in given wall.
Wall length ‘L’ 10 FT
Wall height ‘H’ 10 FT
Wall thickness ‘T’ 9 inch .75
Bricks quantity = wall volume/bricks as well as mortar volume
Wall volume = L x H x T = 10 x 10 x .75 = 75 FT3
Brick dimensions
L equal to 9 inch, W equal to 4.5 inch, H equal to 3 inch
Standard mortar thickness in H and L direction
½ inch each
Therefore, brick and mortar volume:
(Brick length + Mortar thickness) x (brick width) x (brick height + mortar thickness)
= 9.5 x 4.5 x 3.5 = 149.65 inch3
Convert cubic inch to cubic feet
= 149.65 inch3/1728 = .0866 FT3
Bricks and mortar volume = .0866 FT3
Therefore, bricks quantity = 75 FT3/.0866 FT3 = 866 bricks (include/add 8 percent of total quantity like wastage)
