Difference between Bridges and Flyover

There are similarities between bridges and flyovers concerning structural point of view, but they differ based on their function, purpose of usage and the location where it is constructed.

Bridge:

• The bridge stands for the structure that arranges passage over an obstacle devoid of sealing the way underneath. The necessary passage may belong to a road, a railway, pedestrians, a canal or pipeline. The obstacle to be passed may range from a river, a road, railway or a valley.
• Several obstructions on which the bridge is constructed vary from seas, rivers, valleys etc.

• Bridges are categorized based on their purpose, lifespan, materials, span etc.
• Bridges are mainly utilized for manoeuvring traffic across the obstruction. They are also applied to navigate pipelines and other forms of transport.

Flyover:

• Flyover stands for a bridge that bears one road or railway line over another either including or excluding supplementary roads for making communication among the two.
• It is a structure that connects two or more points which are segregated by obtainable routes to diminish the traffic to make transit faster.
• They are generally constructed over road junctions, roads, streets, etc.

• The name itself signifies flying over a traffic zone.
• They are generally constructed for road vehicles.
