Some useful concrete tests for checking the quality of concrete
Concrete tests are necessary for checking the concrete quality in accordance with the subsequent details:
- To recognize the variation of concrete quality that is given for a definite arrangement.
- To make sure that there is sufficient robustness/strength in concrete or placement of concrete is sufficient for removal, straining, de-supporting, ready for movement / moving / traffic etc.
- To make sure that the concrete has attained adequate robustness / strength for the prospect objective.
Several categories of evaluations can be started for checking different concrete qualities. Several evaluations give outcomes for their appropriate concrete quality. Because of expensiveness and time, it turns out to be complex to conduct every assessment simultaneously. As a result, the purposes for concrete quality tests are considerably essential.
The essential evaluation for checking the quality of concrete is to recognize the difference of quality of concrete with the definite arrangement and blend arrangement all over concrete blending and placement to ensure that the appropriate concrete quality is having determined on the site and through verifications for concrete arrangement in position; the quality of congregated concrete members going to be as selected.
The subsequent assessments are carried out to find out the concrete quality: Assessments on strengthened concrete :-
- Compressive strength of concrete (core, cube, cylinder)
- Tensile strength of concrete: Direct tension
- Modulus of rupture of concrete
- Indirect [splitting] Test
- Density of hardened concrete test
- Shrinkage
- Creep
- Permeability Tests on Concrete
- Modulus of elasticity of concrete test
- Absorption
- Freeze/thaw resistance of concrete
- Chemical resistance test for concrete / Resistance to aggressive chemicals
- Resistance to abrasion test concrete
- Concrete bond to reinforcement
- Determination for cement content and proportions
- In situ concrete tests / In situ tests: concrete Schmidt Hammer test, concrete pull-out test, break off test concrete, cones and more.
- Ultrasonic concrete test,
- nuclear.
Assessments on fresh concrete :-
- Workability Assessments (slump assessment and additional)
- Bleeding test
- Air content test
- Setting time test
- Unit weight test
- Wet analysis / Wet analysis of concrete
- Temperature test
- Heat generation
- Segregation resistance test of concrete
Majority of the aforementioned usual assessments are in accordance with compression assessments and slump assessments. It is even beneficial to conduct fresh concrete temperature and strengthened concrete density calculation assessments.
