How to compute amount of water in a tank
In this construction video tutorial, you will learn how to calculate quantity of water in square shape tank and rectangular shape tank.
There is a rectangular tank.
Let’s measure the volume of the tank.
Tank volume = L x B x H = 12 x 8 x 6 = 576 ft3
Let’s measure water in 1 ft3
Water density = 1000 kg / m3
1 m3 = 1000 litres (1000 kg)
1 m3 = 35.3198 ft3
Water in 1 ft3 = 1000/35.3198 = 28.31 litres
Therefore, weight of water = Tank volume x 28.31 = 576 x 28.31 = 16307 litres = 16307 kg
Water in UK gallon = 16307 litres / 4.540 = 3592 UK gallon
[UK gallon is equal to 4.540 litres]
[US gallon is equal to 3.785 gallons]
In case the tank dimensions are in meter, volume x 1000 is equal to water quantity in litres
